Qamar Maqsood is the Founder and Consultant of Equity in Education (EiE Services), with over 30 years’ experience across teaching, leadership, consultancy and advisory roles. He has worked with primary and secondary schools, academies, early years settings, childminders, supplementary schools and local authorities, supporting them to strengthen EAL provision, promote equality and inclusion, and develop cultural understanding.
For over 20 years, Qamar worked as an EAL Adviser, supporting schools, local authorities, external agencies, families and community organisations. He led a major educational project across Telford & Wrekin schools for more than seven years, providing strategic leadership and practical support to improve outcomes for multilingual learners. His experience includes:

Developing inclusive policies and practice
Qamar has also been Head of Mathematics, a school governor and Head of a supplementary school, and has served for many years on SACREs for Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Council. These roles have strengthened his understanding of leadership, governance and whole-setting improvement.
Qamar holds a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, an MSc in Physics and the Further and Adult Education Teachers' Certificate. He has taught Mathematics from primary level to A Level and Urdu to A Level. Speaking and understanding six languages, Qamar brings a strong understanding of the relationship between language, identity, culture and learning. He builds positive relationships with learners, families and communities and tailors his support to each setting. His approach is collaborative, evidence-informed and grounded in classroom practice. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, he works alongside leaders and practitioners to develop practical, sustainable approaches that strengthen inclusion, build capacity and improve outcomes.
Through Equity in Education, Qamar is committed to helping educational settings create environments where every learner, particularly multilingual learners and those from ethnic minority backgrounds, can participate fully, feel a sense of belonging and achieve their potential.
