High-quality teaching is at the heart of successful outcomes for pupils who use English as an Additional Language (EAL). At Equity in Education, we provide specialist teaching and interventions that is practical, inclusive and informed by current research and best practice. Our support is tailored to the needs of each setting and is designed to complement existing teaching while strengthening staff confidence and capacity.

Whether supporting newly arrived pupils, learners at the early stages of English acquisition, or those developing more advanced academic language, our focus is on improving outcomes through effective practice. We understand that strong EAL provision is most successful when it complements existing teaching and aligns with the wider aims of the setting. Our teaching and intervention services are therefore designed to strengthen whole-school or whole-setting approaches while providing targeted support where it is needed most.

Our Services Include

Direct EAL Teaching

Specialist teaching that focuses on developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while supporting learners to engage with curriculum content. Sessions are carefully planned to build confidence, language proficiency and understanding, helping pupils make meaningful progress in both language development and learning.

Small-Group Support

Structured small-group programmes tailored to identified language needs. These focused sessions provide learners with additional opportunities to practise and develop English in a supportive environment, promoting greater participation, confidence and reinforce classroom learning and encourage active participation in a supportive environment.

In-Class Support

Collaborative support that promotes inclusive teaching and improves access to learning within the classroom. By working within the classroom context, we help settings develop practical strategies that remove barriers to learning and create greater opportunities for participation and achievement.

Academic Language Development

Targeted support to develop the language required for success across the curriculum. This includes strategies to strengthen subject-specific vocabulary, improve comprehension of increasingly complex texts, and develop the language skills needed for discussion, reasoning, explanation and written work.

A Practical and Sustainable Approach

All teaching and intervention approaches are carefully planned, flexible and responsive to the needs of learners and settings.
